Valentina Montero

Valentina Montero is a doctor from the University of Barcelona in the program Advanced Studies in Artistic Productions, specialised in Digital Image. She is a graduate in Aesthetics (UC), and holds a Master’s degree in New Media Commissariat (MECAD, URL). She is journalist and has worked as a researcher and curator in contemporary art specializing in media arts and photography. She collaboraed for MECAD (Spain), Bienal de Artes Mediales de Santiago (Chile), Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes (Chile), International Biennial Videoakt (Spain), Drap-Art (Spain), Loop (Spain), Media Library Caixa (Spain), CINUSP (Brasil), among others. Since 2003, she has been teaching at various universities: Universidad Católica, Universidad de Chile, Finis Terrae, Adolfo Ibáñez, Alberto Hurtado in Chile; School of Design ESDi, School of Design IDEP in Spain; and Node Center For Curatorial Studies (online studios based in Berlin). Her research revolves around art, technology, and society. She has lectured at important congresses and symposia such as Media Art Histories in Liverpool, File in Sao Paulo, Artech in Algarve, Balance Unbalance in Manizales, among others. Since 2005, she has been a director of the Chilean Video Corporation. She is editor of the photography magazine Atlas Imaginarios Visuales and director of the PAM project: Plataforma Arte y Medios.
