Liu Wei

Liu Wei is an independent artist living and working in Beijing. He graduated from the Central Academy of Chinese Theater and completed his studies in the Department of Philosophy of Beijing University. His works are closely related to personal experience and memory as well as to the reality and rapid evolution of the history of contemporary China. Wei uses various forms such as puppets, braille, and sign language to express his personal observations and feelings towards reality. With these tools, he wants to show his confrontation with the indifferent society. His works have been exhibited in many international art institutions  including but not restricting to the Center Pompidou, France; ZKM Center for Art and Media, Germany; Nasher Museum of Art, USA; Musée Fabre, France; The Palau de la Virreina Contemporary Art Center, Spain; the Haus der Kulturen der Welt, Germany; the Guangdong Museum of Art, China; the Taipei Museum of Fine Arts, Taïwan, and the SESC Art Center, Brazil.
