Carolina Gainza is a sociologist and holds a Master’s in Latin American Studies from the Universidad de Chile, and a Ph.D. in Hispanic Languages and Literatures from the University of Pittsburgh. She is currently professor at the Department of Creative Literature at the Universidad Diego Portales, director of the magazines Laboratorio (revistalaboratorio.udp.cl), and Laboratorio de escrituras (www.laboratoriodeescrituras.cl). Her area of research focused on digital culture, digital literature and its aesthetics, forms of creation, its circulation, and reception. She is  directing a Fondecyt project offering initiation on digital culture in Chile, and more specifically on its manifestations in film, literature, and music.
