Ursula Bieman



Ursula Biemann (Zúrich, 1955) is an artist, writer and video essayist who currently lives and works in Zurich, Switzerland. Her research deals with the social and global impact of the accelerated mobility of people, resources and information. Since her first artworks and curatorships, mobility has been a main category of analysis. In projects such as «Geography and the Politics of Mobility» (2003), «The Maghreb Connection» (2006) and «Sahara Chronicle» (2006- 2009), she investigates clandestine migration networks. More recently, her work has dealt with ecological problems in works such as «Egyptian Chemistry» (2012) and «Deep Weather» (2013). Her video installations have been exhibited in museums all over the world, and amongst others in the biennials of Liverpool, Sharjah, Shanghai, Thessaloniki, Seville, Istanbul and Venice.
