Maya Watanabe is a Peruvian artist, who currently resides between Madrid and Amsterdam. For more than a decade she has participated in numerous exhibitions in Spain and internationally. She has taken part in groups such as the Young Art Hall of the Community of Madrid, La Casa Encendida, the Círculo de Bellas Artes, Fundación Telefónica spaces in Lima and Buenos Aires, Espacio Líquido, the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art Of Santander, the Museum of Art of Lima, the Palais de Tokyo in Paris, the Center of the Arts of Seville or CentroCentro Cibeles. Individual exhibitions have taken place, in Matadero as well as in centers such as the Livia Benavides Gallery and the Room Luis Miró Quesada Garland de Lima, the Temple of Qorikancha of Cuzco, the Cultural Center of Spain in Miami or the aforementioned Lima Telephone Foundation.
She has also participated in international events, such as Intervenciones TV – Madrid Open 08, the Young Artists Contest of INJUVE in 2009, Generation 2012, the 13 Natural Gas Exhibition of the MAC Coruña, and the 19th International Festival SESC_VIDEOBRASIL.
